The Lagos State Government, Thursday, has announced the discharge of 48 patients receiving treatment for novel coronavirus at the; Yaba, Lekki, Onikan and Lagos University Teaching Hospital Isolation facilities.
The patients, who tested negative, twice for the virus, consist of 32 males and 16 females.
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while announcing the discharge, said;
“We will continue to celebrate and acknowledge our wins, as well as reflect on our losses. These will help us stay on course, prevent us from being distracted, help us stay focused as we face this pandemic head-on.
“The patients, 28 from the Mainland infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, six from Lekki, one from Onikan and 13 from LUTH Isolation Centers were discharged having fully recovered and tested negative to #COVID-19 in two consecutive readings.
“with this new development, the number of #COVID-19 confirmed cases that have been successfully managed and discharged in Lagos stands at 406.”
Subsequently, two more patients have died of coronavirus-related complications in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, while making the disclosure, Thursday, said:
“The total number of confirmed #COVID-19 cases in Lagos is now 1,324.
“The two recorded deaths now brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the state to 33.
“I hereby urge all Lagos residents to adhere to directives aimed at curtailing the spread of COVID-19.”
In other news, the Lagos State Government, Thursday, said 10 persons ‘associated’ with the State House in Marina, have tested positive for the virus.
Prof. Akin Abayomi, made the disclosure via his Twitter handle, Thursday, but, however did not give any detail about the identity of the infected persons.
He, noted that, the governor, Babjide Sanwo-Olu, his wife, Joke Sanwo-Olu tested negative for the virus.
“I am glad to announce that COVID-19 incident Commander Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and first lady, Joke Sanwo-Olu have consistently tested negative for COVID-19 following three consecutive tests conducted on them.” Prof. Abayomi said.
