Lorenzo Sanz, former Real Madrid President, who was hospitalized with coronavirus on Saturday died at the age of 76.
This was confirmed in a tweet by Lorenzo’s son.
“My farther has just passed away. He didn’t deserve this ending and in this way.
“One of the best, bravest and hardest-working people I have ever seen. His family and Real Madrid were his passions” Sanz Junior said.
He added that his father had been admitted to a Real Madrid hospital after suffering symptoms of coronavirus which has claimed the lives of over 1, 320 people in Spain.
Sanz, who led the Spanish football giants from 1995-2000, overseeing two titles from the Champions League claimed a place at the Real Madrid board in the mid-1980’s.
Sergio Ramos, the current captain of Real Madrid, is also currently quarantined after one of the club’s basketball players tested positive for the virus, hailed Sanz.
