The Federal Government, Friday, announced that anyone found moving about without a facemask will be prosecuted.
This was disclosed in a document by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 as a crucial measure in curbing the coronavirus pandemic and also ushering in the easing of lockdown phase.
The five-page document, signed by the PTF Chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, stated that anyone found with a temperature above 38ºC will be mandated to return home.
“Anyone who presents a temperature of above 38ºC will be mandated to return home and call NCDC for evaluation,” the statement read in part. It added: “
“Anyone violating the curfew in a non-emergency situation will be prosecuted. Anyone attending a gathering of more than 20 people will be prosecuted.
“Any member of the public who violates the ban on Inter-State movement as outlined in this guideline will be prosecuted.”
Subsequently, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Friday, confirmed 238 new cases of #COVID19 in the country.
The confirmed cases and their respective states are ; 92-Kano, 36-FCT, 30-Lagos, 16-Gombe, 10-Bauchi, 8-Delta, 6-Oyo, 5-Zamfara, 5-Sokoto, 4-Ondo, 4-Nasarawa, 3-Kwara, 3-Edo, 3-Ekiti, 3-Borno, 3-Yobe, 2-Adamawa,1-Niger, 1-Imo, 1-Ebonyi, 1-Rivers, and 1-Enugu
The Centre for Disease Control, in it’s daily update on COVID-19 via Twitter, wrote that;
“2170 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria with 351 discharges, and 68 recorded deaths.”
