As the second wave of the pandemic prevails as well as the quest for vaccination, Babajimi Benson, Member House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Consitituency has appealed to consitituents to stay safe during these trying times.
In a statement on Monday, Benson, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, said it is important for everyone to be “conscious of the prevailing virus ravaging us and straining our healthcare sector.”
“As of January 9, 2021, Nigeria had recorded 99,063 cases and sadly 1350 deaths. Of these cases, 35,448 were recorded in Lagos State with 249 deaths. The second wave of Coronavirus is real and more potent than envisaged,” he said.
He urged his consitituents to follow the safety guidelines as laid down by health authorities: wearing a mask, regular washing of hands with soap and water or use of alcohol based sanitizers and maintaining social distancing.
“I salute the continuous effort of Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and our frontline workers who are ensuring that our people get the best treatment across the health facilities in the state,” Benson added.
