A High Court sitting in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, has rejected an application filed by Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, seeking to stop the ongoing selection process for the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
Wasiu Ayinde had approached the court with a motion for an interim injunction aimed at restraining the Ogun State Government and the kingmakers from proceeding with the chieftaincy selection pending the determination of his substantive suit.
However, the court dismissed the application, ruling that the relief sought did not meet the threshold required for an interim injunction. The judge held that there was no sufficient justification to halt the process at this stage.
The court subsequently fixed January 14, 2026 for the accelerated hearing of the main suit in which Ayinde is challenging his exclusion from the list of candidates being considered for the royal stool.
This development comes amid controversy surrounding his claim to the throne, which has been publicly rejected by the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, the lineage said to produce the next Awujale. The ruling house insists Wasiu Ayinde is not a descendant of the royal family and lacks the traditional standing to contest the stool.
The court’s decision clears the way for the Ogun State Government and kingmakers to proceed with the succession process while the legal battle continues.
