The Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, has ordered that two DNA tests be conducted to determine the paternity of Liam Aloba, the only son of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
In a ruling delivered on Tuesday, the court ordered that the tests be carried out in two separate accredited medical facilities, one within Nigeria and the other abroad.
The court further directed that the samples for the tests be taken from Mohbad’s remains at the Military Hospital in Yaba, with representatives of both parties present during the exercise.
The case, which was brought before the court by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, seeks to establish the paternity of the young boy for reasons tied to welfare and maintenance. Mr. Aloba had earlier asked that his late son’s widow, Omowunmi, and Liam be subjected to a DNA test.
Attempts to resolve the matter out of court had previously stalled, with disagreements over the choice of medical facilities for the test. The court’s latest ruling now provides a clear framework for how the process should be conducted.
The case has been adjourned to November 11, 2025, for further proceedings.
