After the duo of Senators Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu Sheriff have flexed their legal muscles in different Courts in Lagos, Abuja and now Port Harcourt, an Appeal Court has affirmed the latter as the substantial Chairman of the crisis riden main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered thtt the three Judges of the Court of Appeal in Port HArcourt unanimously agreed that Sheriff was indeed the Chairman of the party.
It will be recalled that a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt had at last year given the legitimacy to the leadership of Markafi as the Chairman while another Court of coordinate jurisdiction in Abuja had ruled that Sheriff should be recognised as the Chairman.
The legal battle between the two top members of the party have made the entire body fall short of its objective as the main opposition party as expected in democracy.
The closure of the one time biggest party, Wadata Plaza have seen the duo of Sheriff and MAkarfi to be operating from different locations just as they both enjoy loyalty from party members in almost all States, which have further crippled the party’s activities./
