As part of the ongoing community cleanup and demolition exercise in Amuwo Odofin, the council chairman, Prince Lanre Sanusi has revealed the shocking discovery of dangerous items hidden within demolished shanties and illegal structures.
According to Sanusi, the sanitization effort, aimed at restoring order and safety in the area, led to the uncovering of firearms, stolen manhole covers, and a suspected criminal hideout camouflaged as a makeshift shelter.
“These are real threats to our safety and must never be allowed to grow in our community,” Sanusi said in a statement on Thursday, reiterating that the operation is focused on securing the future of Amuwo Odofin residents.
While acknowledging that the demolition may seem harsh, he emphasized that the goal is not displacement, but transformation.
“We are not taking away from you. we are building a better tomorrow for all,” he added.
The discovery has heightened calls for vigilance and community cooperation, with Sanusi urging residents to support the efforts for a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Amuwo Odofin.
