Cool FM OAP Dotun Announces Exit from Radio After 20 Years

Renowned Nigerian on-air personality, Dotun, popularly known as Do2dtun, has announced his departure from radio after an illustrious career spanning 20 years.
In a recent post on his Instagram page, Dotun reflected on his journey from humble beginnings as an intern at Cool FM Lagos in 2004 to becoming one of the most recognizable voices in Nigerian radio.
He expressed his gratitude to mentors who shaped his career, including industry legends such as Dan Foster (RIP), Olisa Adibua, and Daddy Freeze.
“This must be one of the hardest decisions I have made,” Dotun wrote. “I am fulfilled in my heart that I built a legacy.”
Dotun’s career began in 2004 when he was accepted as an intern at Cool FM Lagos. Despite being unprepared and uncertain, he credits his mentors for nurturing him and helping him grow in the industry. He particularly thanked Dan Foster, describing him as a selfless colleague who held his hand and guided him during his early years.
Dotun went on to mention other colleagues who supported his growth, including Daddy Freeze, Olisa Adibua, Mannie Essien, and others.
In his words, “I was this kid with fear, doubtful but by hands were held by one of my most selfless colleagues ever from Dan Foster (RIP)“AUNTY B” @daddyfreeze @mannieessien @estheroyegue @tallestmessiah (my guy and mezuzah partner 😂) @ruccibella @olisaadibua .. you were the first set of guys that gave me the little light to grow after GOD.”
He also highlighted his contributions to Nigerian radio, noting how he helped elevate Nigerian music and content with shows like “Cool Nigerian Vibe”, “Superstar Wednesday”, and “Office Concert”.
These shows were instrumental in shifting radio content from predominantly foreign music to featuring 70% Nigerian music, marking a significant milestone in the industry.
Dotun concluded his post by reflecting on the ups and downs of his career, calling it a “rollercoaster of the good, the bad, the awesome, and the ugly.”
