Members of Ikorodu Federal Constituency have all cause to smile home as Honorable Babajimi Benson in continuation of his outreach to the people distributed food packs ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The House of Representatives lawmaker had, under his iCare food bank initiative tagged “Apo Aanu”, disbursed the palliatives earlier today at his constituency office.
Started in 2015, the initiative, which involves the sharing of food materials to the constituents, is part of the many programs designed by the lawmaker through his iCare Foundation.
With the annual Muslim festival fast approaching, beneficiaries were full of praises to Babajimi Benson as they trooped to the constituency office where the palliatives were shared.
Commending the initiative is one of the beneficiaries, Rasaq Ajisefini, who described it as very helpful in this current harsh economy.
“I like the initiative because it is very helpful. There are a lot of people who can’t remember the last time they eat some of the items in this package. May God strengthen and bless the organizers.” He said.
In the same vein, another beneficiary, Adesola Oluwagbejamija, lauded the effort of Babajimi Benson in alleviating poverty in the constituency, stressing that the lawmaker has been up and doing in so many ways.
“This is a good initiative that alleviates poverty. We so much appreciate Babajimi Benson for the kind gesture. He has been up and doing in many ways. Students, market women, and others have one way or the other benefitted from him.” Adesola said.
Oyinkansola Kuye, who is benefitting from the initiative for the second time, stated that the continuity of the program will improve the lives of several individuals and also boost the record of work done by the lawmaker.
“The program is a nice one and he (Babajimi Benson) has always been a nice man. If he can keep doing this, it will improve his work and even the lives of several individuals.” She said.
Meanwhile, Hon. Rotimi Oluwanisaye described Babajimi Benson as a God-sent person, stressing that the constituency has never had a representative who did to extent what the lawmaker has done.
“Jimi Benson has been doing this for long. He is a God-sent person. A lot of people have benefited from it. May God continue to bless him.
“Apart from the position he is in, we pray he goes higher to do more than what he has been doing. We have never had someone in this division who had done what he has been doing. He surpasses all expectations.” He said.
However, it appeared that more is expected from the Apo Aanu initiative as one of the beneficiaries (name withheld) urged the organizers to consider the inclusion of little tokens in the package for the benefit of the elderly ones who come from far distance.
“We implore the organizers to consider adding a little token to the package. Some elderly ones come from a far distance without having enough transport fare back to their respective homes- unlike some of us who can afford our transport fare regardless of the distance.” She said.
Also, Rasaq Ajisefini pleaded with Babajimi Benson to continue his donation of solar power kits across communities as he missed out on last year’s edition of the initiative.
“Last year, solar power kits were distributed in my community but they didn’t get to my area. I hope they continue that initiative this year.” He added.
For Oyinkansola Kuye, the provision of job opportunities for youths should be considered by the lawmaker.
“He should please help the youths as most people are graduating without available jobs.” She said.
