Confusion As Man Allegedly Tries To Attack Buhari At Argungu Festival In Kebbi State (Video)

It was a mild drama at the opening ceremony open at the Argungu Fishing and Cultural Festival as an Unknown Assailant attempted to attack President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.

In a short video, a young man on a black kaftan was seen charging towards the President as he was in a line up with the Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, amongst other dignitaries, before he was quickly held back by security operatives around the president.

In a press statement to dissuade the alleged attack on the President, caption as “Alleged Attack on President Buhari In Kebbi: Contortionists At Work Again”, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said the man identified in the video was only excited to greet the President, calling it the handiwork of social media contortionists.

In the statement obtained by BlackBox Nigeria, Adesina wrote,” President Muhammadu Buhari was in Kebbi State Thursday to declare open the Argungu Fishing and Cultural Festival. It was the first time the international tourism event would hold in eleven years, as security considerations had rendered it impracticable.

“As the President went round the arena to inspect rice pyramids on display, and take photographs with farmers, a young man was so very excited to see his President so close. He made an attempt to get to him.

“World over, such would not be allowed by security details. The young man was prevented, and he protested that he should be allowed to greet his President. Now, professional contortionists are making mischief of the event.
“They are passing the video clip off on social media as an attempt to attack the President.
Malicious people always twist things to give a negative narrative. But they simply dash their heads against the wall. The country moves on.”
