CIVIL SERVICE SENIOR MODEL COLLEGE CARTS HOME ₦50,000, WINS SECOND EDITION OF INTER-SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETITION
BlackBox Nigeria reports that the Civil Service Senior Model College, Igbogbo in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, has emerged the winner of the 2nd edition of the Inter-School Quiz Competition.
The competition, which was held at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat hall, on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, was organized by Waves Magazines, an Ikorodu based entertainment tabloid, for students in senior secondary schools in Ikorodu division.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that about ten schools across the division participated in this year’s edition and competed in General Studies, English Language and Mathematics.

At the end of the event, which was well-attended by eminent individuals, Civil Service Senior Model College, Igbogbo, garnered 20 points in the three subjects to emerge as winner and carted home N50,000 prize money.
Accesspoint College, Ikorodu, emerged the 1st runner-up with 18 points while HOMAT College emerged 2nd runner-up with 16 points.
The quiz was moderated by a presenter from the Lagos Television (LTV 8), Princess Sola Kosoko, a legislative aide to the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Mr Mojeed Sanni , wife of the publisher, Mrs Lamina and the Chief Executive Officer, Suave Records, Mr Oluwakemi Hassan.
According to the Publisher of Waves Magazines, Mr Azeez Lamina, the purpose of organizing such even is to give back to the society.
“We are inviting you (students) to compete among yourselves because we know that it is very challenging at your age.
“Unlike while we were growing up, there are many distractions that are adversely affecting your concentration and taking your time like phone and social media engagements.
The publisher, who stated that the students should see the acquisition of phones as privilege and not right, he enjoined them to use the gadget for productive engagements.
He advised participating students to “Read extra hard, pay attention to details and be focus to achieve anything extraordinary.
“Develop yourself by working on your abilities” Lamina stated
Hon. Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in his address encouraged the students to give all their best to develop themselves while he commended the organizers for the lofty initiative.
“Life is free employer, it will only give to you what you invest in it.
“You should be able to develop yourselves among your peers with the enormous opportunities at your disposal. Be unique and don’t follow the crowd because if you do, you’ll be lost in it. Be different”, Hon. Banjo admonished.
Mayor Deen Sanwoola, an IT expert and a techy-political strategist, challenged the students to study courses that are unusual and technological based if they truly want to standout.
“You should aspire to be different and ready to study those courses that are not regular like aeronautic, neuro-surgeon, etc.
“To do this, you have to go the extra miles and do more than your peers.
“Your ability to use technology will differentiate you from the rest because we are now running an information and technologically-based economy
In his own speech, Otunba Saheed Ibikunle, former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Education Management, emphasized the need for youths to acquire skills while pursuing their academic careers.
He commended the management of Waves magazines for the initiative and also the participating students for conducting themselves in good manner throughout the quiz competition.
Otunba Ibikunle also enjoined them to be men and women of integrity and honour.
Aside the monetary gifts presented to the best three schools, certificates of participation were also issued to the students.
Other guests that graced the occasion were Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Mr Lanre Kuye, Deputy Registrar (Information), Lagos State Polytechnic, Alhaja Kudirat Lamina, Director, Lateef Lamina Memorial Schools (LATLAM) and Mr Yusuf Gbadebo, Supervisory Councilor for Works, Ikorodu Local Government among others.
