The highly anticipated Manchester derby ended in favour of Man City who romped Manchester United with 2 goals to win at Old Trafford.
Ole Gunner Solskajaer’s men were at the mercy of Pep Guardiola’s inspired Man City team. The home team were clueless in front of goal.
A first half own goal by Eric Bailey and another from Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva were to see off the struggling Man United team. In their typical dominating fashion, Manchester City enjoyed 68% possession of the game at Old Trafford.
Despite the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo, Man United could only salvage a single shot on target while placing three other shots off the radar. Pep Guardiola’s men, on the other hand, registered five shots on target.
Former Manchester United player, Roy Keane has condemned his old club after two goals trashing at home in the hands of Man City.
The outspoken Sky Sports pundit expressed his disbelief over Man United’s performance which he described as below the par.
“It felt worse [than the defeat to Liverpool].The goal just before half-time meant it was game all over. Man City are a different type of team to Liverpool. They were quite happy just to keep the ball and they just toyed with Man Utd. It was so poor. The difference in class, quality and decision making, basically everything. I know the old saying is men vs boys, but United are so off it, it’s unbelievable,” the aggrieved Keane said.
He further questioned Man United’s individual’s performance – particularly Eric Bailey.
“We go back to that I look for characters. Scott McTominay, who I know is learning his trade. Fred in midfield. These players are not good enough for Manchester United.
“Defensively, I wasn’t shocked when Eric Bailly sliced that into his own net. He’s got that in his locker. He’s erratic. It was so comfortable for Man City. They just toyed with Man Utd,” he said.
Meanwhile, Man City starlet, Phil Foden believed they had the game of their lives against Man United. The forward claimed everything fell in perfect position for his team and they had more chances to dictate the time of the game.
“We had the game of our lives today. Everything went right, a lot of possession and chances. We dominated from start to finish. Possession, picking the right times and when to hurt them. Really pleased,” the English youngster said.
