In his usual gesture of generosity, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, brought early Christmas cheer to hundreds of families through the distribution of food packs under his iCare Foundation Foodbank Initiative.
The event, which took place on December 14, 2024, at his Constituency Office along Ebute-Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu, marked the end-of-year distribution of “Apo Anu” (Sacks of Mercy) to the most vulnerable members of the constituency. The initiative, now a cherished tradition, aims to ease the burden of food insecurity during the festive season.
The food distribution, which saw 500 food packs delivered to families in need, drew residents from across the six Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Ikorodu: Ikorodu Local Government, Ikorodu North LCDA, Imota LCDA, Ijede LCDA, Ikorodu West LCDA, and Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
Prominent leaders and dignitaries graced the occasion, including the Director General of iCare Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, Bldr. Adeola Banjo (Executive Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA), representatives of the Community Development Committee (CDC), and religious leaders from both Christian and Muslim communities, underscoring the event’s emphasis on unity and inclusivity.
One of the beneficiaries, Olamilekan Rasheed, who attended on behalf of his sick father, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “I appreciate Honourable JB for his continuous support for the poor, and we pray to God to strengthen all the members of the iCare Foundation.”
Another resident, Adebayo Adewale, who received a food pack and had earlier benefited from the solar power kits distributed by Hon. Benson this year, said, “I am grateful and very happy with what Honourable Babajimi Benson has been doing for the Ikorodu constituency. God will continue to enrich his pocket, and we pray he goes higher to do even more for us.”
The event highlighted Hon. Babajimi Benson’s unwavering commitment to supporting the welfare of his constituents, particularly during challenging times. The iCare Foodbank Initiative, which has become a cornerstone of his community outreach, continues to strengthen bonds within the constituency while offering hope to those in need.
As Ikorodu residents prepare to celebrate Christmas, Hon. Benson’s act of kindness serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion and generosity in building resilient communities.
