A fire broke out at the headquarters of Christ Embassy Church in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State, on Sunday morning.

The blaze engulfed the Loveworld Convocation Arena, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Multiple videos shared on social media platform X showed the extent of the fire, with eyewitnesses expressing gratitude that it started before the main church service began. Augustine, a user on X, shared a video of the fire and wrote: “Christ Embassy Church on Billings Way, Oregun, is on fire. Serious fire is raging, and men of the Lagos State Fire Service are working hard to put it off. Thank God service hasn’t commenced fully.”

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President and founder of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, responded to the incident during a live Sunday service at the church’s campground in Asese.

He said, “Nothing happens in the life of a child of God by accident… We will build a bigger, better, and more glorious one, and the devil will lick his wound.”

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly to the incident, with officials working to contain the situation. No lives were reported lost in the fire, and the church has vowed to rebuild a bigger and better structure.
