Tunde Onakoya, a talented chess player who holds the Guinness World Records for the longest marathon chess game, announced on his X platform on Monday that he has won a brand new car and become a global brand ambassador for Nord Motion Motors.
Onakoya had previously gifted his first car to his father before traveling to the United States of America. His father had sacrificed his taxi business 13 years ago to fund Onakoya’s education, and this act of kindness was a way for Onakoya to show his appreciation.
“Just before I traveled to America, I called my dad and gave him my only car. he had sold his taxi 13 years ago so I could pay for my WAEC and JAMB examination fees” he writes.
Onakoya’s announcement on X revealed that he had accepted a challenge from Oluwatobi Ajayi, CEO of Nord Motion, to play a chess match with an extraordinary reward: a free car from their showroom if he emerged victorious.
“I got a call from @OluwatobiAjayiJ, the CEO of @nordmotion, inviting me to his office for a chat and a chess match. During our conversation, he proposed an outrageous deal: if I could beat him, I could choose any car in their showroom for free.”
Despite being the underdog, Onakoya triumphed after an intense hour-long game, securing a NORD A7 SUV built and assembled in Nigeria. This unexpected win also earned him a spot as a global brand ambassador for Nord Motion Motors.
“I’m thrilled to announce that I am now a global brand ambassador for @nordmotion motors and the proud owner of a NORD A7 suv built and assembled in Nigeria.”
Onakoya expressed his gratitude and disbelief, stating that life is indeed unpredictable and that he is thrilled to use his gift to inspire others and make a positive impact. “Life really isn’t scripted, and I’m super grateful to be able to use my gift to inspire the world and affect lives positively.”
