Chelsea football club continued their stellar display as they cruised past Norwich City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Mason Mount’s hat-trick coupled with four other goals ensured Chelsea maintained their top of the table dominance. Eight minutes into the game, the English wonder-kid scored the opener through an assist from Jorginho.
It took just ten minutes before another Chelsea youngster, Callum Hudson-Odoi made it two — his first goal since January. With Pulisic still out injured, Odoi had to fill the void, playing in his favourite left wing. His classy display caused a lot of trouble for Norwich’s full backs who were later forced to concede an own-goal.
Before the match, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, had charged Hudson-Odoi to up his game if he wants more playing time. The latter didn’t disappoint as he took advantage of injured Pulisic to impress his coach.
Despite their injury crisis which recently added Romelu Lukaku and Thomas Werner, the Chelsea squad were unmoved as they amassed 62 per cent possession of the game as against Norwich’s 38 per cent. With Kai Havertz starting as a false nine, Chelsea had in total 23 shots — 12 on target and 11 off target.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s defenders continued their offensive display as they go for goals like the rest of the team. Antonio Rudiger started off with a 20-yard strike to test Norwich’s goal keeper, Tim Krul. In the long run, Reece James and Ben Chilwell both found the back of the net respectively, adding more agony to the struggling Norwich side.
Towards the tail end of the match, Norwich had insult added to injury as they were forced to end the match with 10-man; an opportunity seized by Mason Mount to score his first ever Chelsea hat-trick.
