By The Nigerian Army Taskforce Team has arrested one Sikiru Adeshina, an aspirant for the Chairmanship of Ewekoro, at an illegal factory where cement are being adulterated with sand dust and are being rebagged for unsuspecting members of the public.
This development comes after Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun yesterday assured that no criminal or suspected criminal will be elected into any LGA office in the state.
According to Vanguard News, “The Nigerian Army Wednesday disclosed that eight persons have been arrested at a fake cement factory in Ewekoro town in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, southwest Nigeria”
The Public Relations Officer of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Captain Adamu Yahya Ngulde, in a statement in Abeokuta, the State capital, said the factory was uncovered Tuesday at about 5.00am.
He gave the names of those arrested as Bamidele Raji, Sikiru Adesina, Abiodun Akinfenwa, Wale Ogunnike, Sarafa Yusuf, Joseph Guto, Funso Orutoso and Akinlodu Jelili.
The suspects, according to the release, were arrested at the site with four trucks belonging to LARFAGE cement company with Lagos state registration numbers BDG 571 XB, XZ 987 KRD, XZ 985 KRD and TRS 016.
Ngulde explained that, “based on our preliminary investigation, the suspects get cement from LARFAGE and Dangote Cement Company and adulterate it with sand dust and package it in Dangote and Lafarge Cement bags for distribution.”
The suspects and the vehicles, he added, have been detained pending the conclusion of their preliminary investigation before handing them over to the police for further investigation.
Residence of the area also confirmed that the unrepentant leader of the team in person of Mr. Sikiru Adeshina still continues till this date in this economic sabotage and destruction of lives and livelihoods associated to use of this adulterated products.
He is so emboldened and has given huge sums of money to the leaders who are supporting and proposing him as a candidate to represent the local governments even with just his Primary School Certificate.
It is worrisome that these leaders knows his trade-in-crime and they still support him only to get their own proceed of his crime.
With the position of the likes of his Excellency yesterday, we know very well that Ogun will get rid of those who tries to cover crime with politics.
