Celebrated Author of Popular English Brighter Grammar is Dead

Mrs Phebean Ajibola Ogundipe, a prominent educationist and Author of Popular English Brighter Grammar died at 92.

Mrs Ogundipe was born in May 16, 1927 and gave up the ghost on the 27th, March 2020. Born in Eti Oke, Osun state and got Married to Mr Adebayo Ogundipe in 1954. She schooled at the University of StAndrews in Scotland and the Institute of Education, University of London.

Ogundipe was said to have returned to Nigeria after her study in the United Kingdom and become senior Education officer and later Inspector of Education in the defunct Western State of Nigeria. She also served as Deputy chief Federal Adviser on Education, National Secretary for UNESCO and she was the acting Director in the Federal ministry of Education at the time of her retirement.

In 1979, the Federal Government awarded her the National Honour of the order of Niger (OON).She later became the principal of Adeyemi college of Education in Ondo state.

Mrs Phebean popularly known as PA Ogundipe, was famous for English Language books such as Brighter Grammar series which she Co-Authored with M. Macaulay and C.E Eckersely, New Practical English for senior Secondary series which she Co-Authored with P.S Tragido a novel, Up-Country Girl, A personal Journey and truthful Portrayal of African Culture, among others.

It was revealed that her burial was held on Friday 27th March,2020. She died in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States of America.
