Nigerian comedian and content creator Carter Efe has had his Twitch streaming account temporarily suspended, just days after making history as Africa’s most‑followed streamer on the platform.
The suspension, announced by Efe via a screenshot of Twitch’s email notification on his social media, comes shortly after his December 17 livestream with Afrobeats superstar Davido, a broadcast that drew massive attention and helped him surpass 400,000 followers, setting a new record for African creators on Twitch.
According to the notice, Twitch placed a four‑month global ban on his channel for alleged violations of its Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
However, the platform has not publicly detailed the specific infractions that triggered the suspension, leaving fans and observers speculating about the reasons.
The record‑breaking livestream which reportedly peaked at over 83,000 concurrent viewers and drew massive engagement from entertainment and gaming communities alike propelled Efe ahead of fellow Nigerian creators, including Shank Comics.
In his social media posts, Carter Efe expressed disappointment over the decision, which has drawn widespread attention during the festive season. While some online speculation links the move to possible mass reporting or questionable content during the broadcast, no official explanation has been provided by Twitch.
Fans have rallied around the streamer, urging him to appeal the decision and praising his rapid ascent in the global streaming community. Meanwhile, Efe is reportedly exploring alternative platforms and ways to keep his audience engaged during the suspension period.
