Nollywood actress, Caroline Danjuma has been announced as the running mate to the governorship candidate of the African Action Alliance (AAC) in Akwa Ibom State, Iboro Otu.
The award-winning actress and reality TV star hails from the Eket area of the state.
The party confirmed her selection in a statement on Monday, saying the choice of the film star was informed by her “exemplary life, love for humanity, leadership ability and commitment towards the betterment of Akwa Ibom communities.”
Danjuma also unveiled her nomination in an Instagram post, noting that she is ready to serve the people of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria at large.
“To serve and to honor in loyalty and in truth to Akwaibom and Nigeria. So help me God,” she wrote.
This development makes Danjuma the fourth movie star to be picked as running mate to a governorship candidate ahead of the 2023 elections.
Actor, Femi Branch was recently announced as the running mate to the governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in Ogun State, Tofunmi Ogunronbi.
His selection comes days after the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Olajide Adediran popularly known as ‘Jandor’ named Ikorodu-born actress, Funke Akindele as his running mate.
In June, controversial actress, Tonto Dikeh was announced as the running mate to the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, Tonte Ibraye.
