Can We Leave Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Alone? By Adesina Seun
Politics is a game of interest that requires the player to be smart and articulate. How you are able to play your cards determines your next political stand as a politician. This great vibrancy and sagacity cannot be taken away from the Are-ago of Egba Land, the Jagaban of ile-oluji and the astute scholar himself the Asiwaju of Lagos, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Not everyone will ever like you when it comes to politics. You can never please nor satisfy everyone’s needs as economists have made us understand.
Though I may not be a student under the tutelage of the grand commander of the south-west political god-father, his excellency senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu ( Governor emeritus ) but his great doggedness, integrity and approach to politics in this era of knowledge political economics, has made me an admirer of his personality, which is why I have always respected him and referred to him as my grandfather in the game of politics.
Though Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not been kidnapped nor held hostage at present we should stop pulling him down with our utterances and deeds. He is a man whose integrity, commitment and ideology can never be undervalued or underestimated in this our political dispensation ;
this is a man who has remained focused, determined in giving the then ruling party (PDP) a vigorous battle by overthrowing them from power at the Federal level of Government in Nigeria through a strategic and constructive opposition for sixteen (16) good years. Despite the intimidation, frustration and witch-hunting, he remained resolute without being deterred. He never sold his political ideology and principle for selfish personal interest by either decamping or aligning with the central political party to gain cheap political recognition or political appointment like some of his colleagues did while serving as Governors in 2003, 2007, 2011 and in the twilight of the 2015 election.
Yes, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is just a human being like you and I, with blood flowing in his veins. He has his weaknesses and strengths which shows the imperfect nature of human beings. He might have made some certain decisions or taken some certain steps which either his political associates, fellow political gladiators might not find pleasant, it does not disqualify him from being a leader. Politics In Nigeria is built on trust, interest and loyalty.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is one of the few political leaders who are really passionate about youth development. He is neither ethnic nor religiously biased. He knows how to identify youths with great potentials and exposes them rightly for a productive delivery of service to society. Today , we hear names such as His Excellency Prof Yemi Osinbajo, His Excellency ,Babatunde Raji Fashola , His Excellency Akinwunmi Ambode , His Excellency babajide Sanwo -olu , Her Excellency Serah Sosan ,Dele Alake , Sen Opeyemi Bamidele , Hon Ayo Adewale , Mr Wale Edun ,Rt Hon Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila , Hon Abike Dabiri , Mr Tunde Fowler , Alhaji Lai Mohammed, these are few out of the many students that the jagaban of ile oluji has sent on training to provide dividends of democracy to the masses. This is a great man who has given the youth an opportunity to steer strategic positions in government, if not for this great man called Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, most of this so-called leaders that we envy today might not have surfaced in our political scene.
My dear great people of the Yoruba race, I plead with us all to stop politics of greed, hatred, Yes . You , might not be in the same political party with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and probably you might not even admire his leadership style , let’s stop destroying this personality with our unguided tongues and fallacious rumours. Let’s support whoever is the arrow-head in this new government so that we the Yoruba race will not be left out of the new government that is yet to be constituted. The interest of Nigeria and the Yoruba race should not be seen as an Individual task; yesterday, it was some people”s reign at the central government representing the interest of the Yoruba race, today, its the turn of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed and co. Tomorrow it might be your turn because leadership and position are transitional. Let’s support them and not continually blackmail the great political maestro of the Yoruba race in the sight of the presidency.
Long live the Yoruba race!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
