Grammy winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, has once again made history after becoming the first African artist to surpass 2 billion streams in the United Kingdom.
He received the prestigious plaque backstage at his sold-out concert in Koko Camden, London, during the fifth-anniversary celebration of his acclaimed 2019 album, African Giant.
This milestone holds particular significance as it symbolizes Burna Boy’s journey to international fame, driven by the viral success of his hit single “Ye” from the same album.
Following his sold-out performance at London Stadium just a month ago, where he was honored with a plaque for achieving 1 billion streams, Burna Boy’s latest accolade underscores his growing influence and popularity on the global stage.
Accepting his Brit 2 billion streams plaque with a wide smile, Burna Boy expressed gratitude and emphasized the significance of perseverance, stating, “Thank you very much. I appreciate you. Ehen, now that’s it. You’ve to fight for your right.” When reminded that he had already achieved the goal, he reiterated, “No. You know, we have to fight for our rights.”
