Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Damini Ogulu better known as Burna has finally apologized to his fans after earlier castigating them despite arriving late for his Lagos concert.
Burna Boy who turned up late for his own headline concert rained curses on his fans accusing them of sharing untruths about him despite him doing all he could to entertain them.
He had lamented that his fans carried rumors that he killed someone at a night club and that his mother used to dance for Afrobeat legend, FELA saying while he still loved them, God will punish whoever doesn’t love him. He also criticized the concert organizers saying he would have left the venue but for his colleague, Seyi Vibes.
This incident drew the ire of his fans and other obversers who took to social media to share their displeasure.
Many called out the Last Last crooner for his arrogance and disregard for his fans while many others said this has always been his mode of operation.
The Grammy award winner has however apologized for his outbursts while putting the blame of his late performance on the organizers.
In a reaction he shared on his verified Instagram handle, Burna Boy wrote, “Lagos, I love you but I can’t do this again. The organisational structure and infrastructure are not there for the complexities of my audio and production needs.
“Let’s be clear. I wasn’t late, my band wasn’t late. We pride ourselves on being highly professional, especially with our stagecraft. There were three options available to me; wait for the audio to be fixed and delay the show, come out at 11 pm as planned with no sound or call a breach of contract and pull the plug.”
Burna Boy further stated that he will be collaborating with various investors and stakeholders to prevent future occurrences because he wants to keep providing his fans with top-notch shows.
“I know I can’t go all over the world and neglect my own people so I’m taking matters into my own hands! I’m gathering the troops to work on building world-class infrastructure in the Nigerian entertainment business.
“Investors and stakeholders interested pls hit me up, we need to make some changes.
“I apologise to my fans for how hectic it was, thank you for staying and weathering the storm with me,” he wrote.
While commending his band members for “making lemonade with the worst lemons we’ve ever seen,” he called out the show organizers saying they did “an abysmal job of executing anything and my fans should never have had to go through that.”
He ended his piece by stating that he would not be engaging any Nigerian show promoter again except it is organized on his personal platform.
An unperturbed Burna Boy had talked down on his concert attendees earlier on despite the latter waiting for several hours before he finally turned up on stage.
