Nigerian music superstars Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr are all officially nominated for this year’s 66th Annual Grammy Awards, as announced on November 7 2025 by the Recording Academy.

The nominations mark a major milestone for Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene and reflect the growing global influence of African music.

Burna Boy has been nominated in two categories: Best African Music Performance for his track “Love” and Best Global Music Album for No Sign of Weakness.

According to reports, he becomes the first African artist with seven consecutive years of Grammy nominations and now has a total of 13 nominations across his career.

Davido received a nomination for Best African Music Performance for his collaboration “With You” featuring Omah Lay.

Meanwhile, Tyla joins the Nigerian contingent with her track “Push 2 Start” also nominated in the same category.

Music analysts say the prominence of these nominations underscores Nigeria’s cultural ascendancy on the world stage.

The Best African Music Performance category, introduced only recently by the Recording Academy, aims to recognise the “unique local expressions of African music” and Africa’s role in global sound.

The 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony will take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

With this year’s nominations reflecting a firm spotlight on Afrobeats, Nigerian artists appear poised to compete seriously not just among themselves but across international categories.
