Former vice president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday has blasted President Muhammadu Buhari for leading a clueless and directionless government and political party.
According to the elder statesman, the poorly implemented naira redesign policies is one example of the failure of the All Progressives Congress.
Atiku, in a statement on Thursday, said that the APC was not prepared for leadership when it took over power in 2015.
His words: ”Recently millions of Nigerians have fallen into intense anger due to a move by the Central Bank of Nigeria to hurl new bank notes. As a result, uproar ensued at some bank branches and some bankers have had to contend with confrontation from enraged youths in desperation to get the new Naira notes.
“It is easy for political expediency for the APC that has brought us to this cul de sac to want to hoodwink Nigerians into believing that the crisis was created by others.
“Truth be told, the crisis that the country is witnessing today was conceived, given birth to and nurtured by the ruling APC, which, indeed, was long in coming.
“We are all witnesses to the myriad of problems that Nigerians have had to endure as a result of the cluelessness of the APC, which came into government with no idea of a policy direction.
“We are witnesses to the massive erosion of jobs; hunger and multidimensional poverty; unabated fuel scarcity; deteriorating security that has created an industry of kidnapping and massacre of defenseless citizens; free fall of the naira; ASUU strike which kept students at home for prolonged periods of time and a general sense of hopelessness.”
Atiku insisted that the APC must take responsibility for the hardship suffered by Nigerians.
