President Muhammadu Buhari will commission the 13-kilometre first phase of the Lagos Blue Rail Line on Tuesday, January 24 2023.
According to Premium Times, the Blue Rail Line which is expected to be 27 km long, connecting Okokomaiko to Marina, will be commissioned at the Marina Train Station in the Outer Marina area of Lagos.
This project was carried out in a bid to ease road congestion in some parts of the state as it transits between Marina and the Mile-2 axis of Lagos.
Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu projected the rail to move not less than 250,000 passengers daily while the entire line would move more than 500,000 passengers.
The rail has five stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina and is being handled by the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).
Dignitaries expected at the event include the Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, and the Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Cui Jianchun.
