President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, will depart Abuja for Nairobi, the Kenya capital to attend the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) which is billed to hold on March 3rd and 4th 2022.
Presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina made this known in a statement, noting that Buhari was invited by his Kenyan counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta.
Themed, “Streghtening UNEP for the Implementation of the Environmental Dimension of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, the international event will play host to UNEP member states to discuss the world’s biggest environmental challenges.
Adesina further revealed that his principal is expected to present the national statement of the country and also take part in high level dialogue sessions on the environment at the said event.
Accompanying the president to the event are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of State for the Environment Sharon Ikeazor, National Security Adviser, Rt. Maj. Babangana Monguno Director General, National Intelligence Agency, Amb Ahmed Rufai and the Chief Executive Officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
After leaving Kenya, Buhari will proceed to London immediately for his regular medical checkup which will last for two weeks.
