By Africa’s largest refinery, the Dangote Refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 Barrels Per Day, is set to be commissioned today in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. The ceremony will be attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo, Togo’s Faure Gnassingbé, Chad’s Mahamat Déby, Senegal’s Macky Sall, and Niger’s Mohamed Bazoum.
In addition to the African leaders, President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu will also grace the occasion, while President Paul Kagame of Rwanda will send a virtual goodwill message.
This historic event is expected to revolutionize Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. Owned by Africa’s wealthiest individual, Aliko Dangote, the refinery has the capacity to fulfill 100% of Nigeria’s refined product requirements, including gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and aviation jet fuel. Furthermore, the refinery will produce a surplus of these products for export.
The commissioning ceremony will be attended by all 36 state governors, governors-elect, ministers, senators, prominent Nigerian business leaders, as well as international oil traders, top bankers, and representatives from global multilateral agencies who have expressed their readiness to participate.
