Buhari Sounded Like He Was Reading Out A Coup D’etat- Kano Lawmaker
Suspended House of Representative member, Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari read out a coup while addressing the nation earlier today. In his own opinion, he believed that the president read out a riot act.
It will be recalled that President Buhari after returning to the country on Saturday, August 19th addressed Nigerians in a nationwide broadcast at exactly 7:00am Monday morning, where he stated that the country’s unity was not negotiable.
The Kano lawmaker who is a supporter of the president especially his fight against corrruption however states that though the speech may sound normal to other people, but it was more like a coup to his own ears.
He said, “Fair to every one to have ideas and expectations but I did not expect PMB to read a speech this morning like he is announcing a coup d’etat”
Hon Jibrin’s reaction to Buhari’s speech is coming after Nigerians have called out the President for focusing primarily on security and dealing with secessionist who are struggling to separate the country. From all indications, it showed that the speech by the President was only to assure the security of the country and a warning to agitators who are yearning for a country of their own.
In his speech, President Buhari stated that the nation’s unity was primary and announced that all Nigerians are at liberty to reside and transact business in any part of the country. This statement has since been linked to an ultimatum given by some youth group in the North declaring that all South-Easterners to depart the region before October 1st, 2017.
