Less than 24 hours before leaving office, President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law the establishment of the Almajiri National Commission and the Federal Road Safety Commission Training Institute.
This information was revealed in a statement signed on Sunday by Senator Babajide Omoworare.
“The National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education Bill, which had previously been passed by the National Assembly, has been assented to by the President.
“The Act aims to provide a multimodal system of education to address the issue of illiteracy, develop skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programs, and prevent youth poverty, delinquency, and destitution in Nigeria.
“The President has also assented to the Federal Road Safety Commission Training Institutions (Establishment) Bill, which aims to enhance capacity building and training in road traffic administration and safety management, and to provide training for members of the Federal Road Safety Corps,” the statement said.
The statement further disclosed that Buhari has also assented to the National Assembly Service Pensions Board bill, which excludes National Assembly workers and others from the mandatory contributory pension scheme.
