President Muhammadu Buhari has formally launched the country’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, ERGP as he reiteratesaid his commitment in transforming Nigeria into a producing country.
The brief event took place inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.
Speaking at the brief ceremony, President Buhari said that his government was determined to turn Nigeria from a consumer nation to a producing one.
“We are determined to change Nigeria from a consumer nation to a producing nation”, he said.
The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udo Udoma in his welcome address noted that the initiative was in line with the change agenda of the government to revive the ailing economy.
“This is therefore a fulfillment to re-invigorate the economy”, he said.
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari lauded the initiative.
While pledging their supports, they urged the federal government to make the implementation of the programme sacrosanct.
The event was attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Abdulaziz Yari; National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie-Oyegun; Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and members of FEC.
