The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has not spoken to him since the shooting by military personnel at Lekki toll gate.
The Governor made this disclosure while speaking on Arise TV earlier today.
According to Sanwo-Olu, he had made two attempts to speak to the President but all were to no avail.
Responding to a question by one of the anchors, Reuben Abati about what President Buhari feels about the situation in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu said he does not have a direct response from the President yet since he has not spoken to him.
”I have made calls twice to speak with the president yesterday. At the first call, he was not in the office, at the second call, I was told he was at the Federal Executive meeting. But the Chief of Army Staff spoke to me and said he was told to call me by Mr President.”
During the interview, Sanwo-Olu also stated he does not have direct control of the military and he was not the one that mobilised them to the Lekki protest. He also cleared the air on the issue switch off the light during the protest.
