Buba Marwa, Femi Pedro to Get Honorary Doctorates from LASU

At the upcoming 28th Convocation of Lagos State University (LASU), two prominent figures, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Retd.) and Otunba Olufemi Olusegun Pedro, will be honored with honorary doctorate degrees for their significant contributions to Nigeria’s development.

General Buba Marwa, the current Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has been recognized for his tireless efforts in combating drug abuse and trafficking in Nigeria. His legacy as a former Military Governor of Lagos State and his leadership in the NDLEA have made an indelible impact on national security and public health.

Otunba Femi Pedro, the current Chairman of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and the founding Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund, is being honored for his distinguished service to both Lagos State and the nation.

As a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Pedro has made contributions to economic policies, governance, and community development. With a background in banking and entrepreneurship, his leadership in both the public and private sectors has had a profound impact on the growth and development of Lagos and beyond.

The honorary degrees will be conferred during the ceremony on April 8, 2025. These recognitions celebrate the enduring influence of Marwa and Pedro, who have continually demonstrated leadership, dedication, and a commitment to the welfare of the nation.

In addition to the honorary doctorates, the convocation will feature the unveiling of a new Faculty of Computing, the graduation of thousands of students, and key speeches, including the Convocation Lecture by Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa.
