Chairman of BUA Group, AbdulSamad Rabiu, has commended the Super Eagles for their courage and commitment, pledging to honour his $500,000 reward to the team despite their failure to secure victory in their latest outing with Morocco in the AFCON2025 semi-finals.
In a statement released on Wednesday via his social media handles, Rabiu hailed the national team for their fighting spirit, passion and unity on the pitch, describing their performance as one that made Nigerians proud, even in defeat.
“You fought with your hearts, gave your all, and showed true courage and determination on the pitch. Though it wasn’t meant to be this time, you have made every Nigerian proud,” Rabiu said.
He acknowledged that while the desired result was not achieved, the team’s dedication and effort remained worthy of celebration, noting that football, like life, does not always reward hard work with immediate success.
“As a token of appreciation for your remarkable journey and effort, I am still going ahead to fulfil the pledge of $500,000 USD. This is in recognition of your hard work, dedication, and the joy you have brought to our nation,” he added.
Rabiu encouraged the players to remain optimistic, stressing that the experience and lessons gained from the tournament would serve as a foundation for future success. He reaffirmed the nation’s continued belief in the Super Eagles and their potential to achieve greater victories ahead.
The gesture has been widely applauded by football fans, who see it as a morale-boosting show of support for the national team at a critical moment.
