Professor Oyedamola Oke has emerged as the acting Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, following the exit of Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN, whose five-year tenure ended on Monday.
Oke, before his appointment, was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the institution.
He defeated the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor Wahab Elias, by 61 votes to 51 at today’s emergency Senate meeting attended by 113 professors.
It would be recalled that the Lagos State governor and Visitor to Lagos State University (LASU), Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu had cancelled the ongoing process set up for the appointment of a substantive ninth Vice Chancellor of the institution.
In a statement on Friday, Sanwo-Olu directed that a fresh process that would terminate in 45 days should commence immediately.
