Nigeria’s oldest actor, Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, known as Agbako, has passed away at the age of 101, leaving a deep void in the Nigerian film industry and Yoruba cultural scene.
Agbako reportedly passed away early Thursday morning. His death was confirmed by Bolaji Amusan, also known as Mr. Latin, President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), who shared that the family will announce funeral plans soon.
Agbako was a familiar face in Yoruba films, known for his many memorable roles that entertained audiences over the years. News of his passing was shared by fellow actor Jide Kosoko, leading to condolences from fellow actors, fans, and friends.
Born in the early 1920s, Agbako had a long career playing various roles that made him well-loved by audiences across Nigeria. His passing is a loss to both the film industry and Nigerian culture.
