Rishi Sunak, an Indian with East African roots, has been elected as the new leader of the Conservative Party and will now be named the UK Prime Minister and successor of Lizz Truss.
He was announced as the new leader of the UK in a tweet on the Conservatives Twitter handle on Monday, 24 October, 2022.
The Business Secretary,Jacob Rees-Mogg has congratulated Rishi Sunak and offered his support.
The Conservative Party Chairman,Jake Berry has also put out his statement about Rishi Sunak’s election as Tory Leader.“I’d like to congratulate Rishi Sunak on becoming the new leader of our party. Now is the time for the whole party to come together and unite four-square behind Rishi, as he gets on with the vital work of tackling the challenges we face as a country.”
