Breaking! Melaye Surrenders To Police

Report reaching BlackBox Nigeria now is that the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Dino Melaye has according to report submitted himself for arrest to the Police authority.

The voluntary submission is coming after his resistance to arrest seven days after a siege on his Abuja residence on Friday 28  2018 by the Police where about 20 officers were deployed to arrest him.

Melaye is accused of illegal possession of arms, gun running and sponsoring hoodlums in Kogi State. This is aside from a separate trial where he was accused of a six count charge, bordering on attempted suicide, attempt to escape from custody and damage of police property.

In response, the Police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood explained that the shooting and injury sustained by a police officer inflicted by Dino Melaye and his armed thugs on the 19th of July 2018 led to the order of his arrest.

The last straw that broke the camel’s back was yesterday’s refusal by an Abuja High Court to grant Dino Melaye’s application to order the removal of police blockage at his residence.

One will recall that, since two weeks ago,  there have been a back and forth between the embattled senator and the Inspector General of Police (IGP). Dino alleged that there is a plan to arrest and poison him to death by the IGP.
