Retired Justice and Islamic scholar, Ahmed Lemu, is dead.
Lemu, who was the first Shari’a Judge at the Court of Appeal in Sokoto State, reportedly died in the early hours of Thursday morning in Minna, Niger state, at the age of 91.
His daughter, Maryam Lemu, announced his passing in a Facebook post.
She wrote, “Inna lillahi wa inna liayhi raji’un.
“It is with sadness and reverence to Allah that we announce the passing away of our father, Dr Justice *Sheikh Ahmed Lemu* OFR, in the early hours of this morning in Minna. Burial arrangements to be announced later.
“It has been a privilege to be the daughter to these two amazing individuals. Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah.”
The late Ahmed Lemu is expected to be buried today according to Islamic rites.
The deceased was the chairman of the committee constituted by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 to review the violence that characterised that year’s presidential election.
