The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed a petition seeking to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District.

In a statement released on official X handle on Thursday, INEC stated that the petition did not meet the constitutional requirements outlined in Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

BlackBox Nigeria earlier reproted that the petition, which was submitted by some constituents from Kogi State, had alleged that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was not representing the interests of her constituents.

However, INEC found that the petitioners failed to provide the necessary documentation and information required for a recall petition.

Meanwhile, more development is expected to come on the latest issue as INEC wrote, “Details Shortly…”

This development comes as a relief to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who has been facing opposition from some of her constituents.

The rejection of the petition means that she will continue to serve as the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District.

INEC’s decision is final, and it is unclear whether the petitioners will appeal the ruling.
