News reaching BlackBox Nigeria have it that football legend turned politician, George Weah has emerged the new President-elect of West African nation, Liberia.
His victory is coming after weeks of delayed runoff elections sequel to the first round of voting which the former Ballon d’or winner led.
George Weah who became a Senator in 2015 went head to head with outgoing Vice President, Joseph Boaka.
In a statement on Social Media, the former football star thanks supporters and voters for standing with him during his travails.
“It is with deep emotion that I want to thank you, the Liberian people, for honoring me with your vote today. It is a great hope. #Liberia #Liberia2017,” he tweeted.
