Breaking! Former Works Minister and PDP Founding Father, Tony Anenih Is Dead

A former Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Tony Anenih is dead.

The former Minister for Works who turned 85 years only last month died in private hospital in Abuja on Sunday.

While condoling with the family, Presidential Aspirant for PDP, Atiku Abubakar wrote on twitter, ”The passing away of Chief Tony Anenih, one of the founding fathers and elder statesmen of @OfficialPDPNig is a sad news to me and everyone who had a close & personal relationship with him. I pray for strength and comfort for his family. May God grant his soul a peaceful repose.”

It will be recalled that Anenih had lost his eldest son, Eugene, in May, 2017, after the death of his wife, Patricia, same year.

The State Chairman of Edo PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, said that the party would make its position on the matter known at the appropriate time.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Government has commiserated with the Anenih family over the death of its patriarch.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, in a statement on Sunday evening, said that the entire state was saddened by the loss.

Obaseki described the late politician as a leader who made immense contributions to the development of the state and the country.

He also said that the guidance of the deceased elder statesman would be missed, especially as the country prepared for the 2019 general elections.
