The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has lifted the 72-hour suspension it placed on outbound Emirates flights from Nigeria.
Recall BlackBox Nigeria reported that the agency, in a February 4 circular, said Emirates Airlines violated guidelines put in place by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
However, in new circular signed by its Director-General, Capt. Musa Nuhu, the NCAA said it carefully reviewed the airline’s response to its letter and arrived at the understanding that the UAE Government has granted approval to Emirates Airlines to withdraw the requirement for Rapid Antigen Testing (RDT).
The letter sent to the airline, dated February 5, clearly stated that: “Based on the foregoing, the Presidential Task Force has directed immediate lifting suspension of Emirates Airlines operations in Nigeria.
“It is therefore expected that Emirates Airlines will continue to comply with the directives or the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and other protocols of the Federal Government of Nigeria.”
“Emirates Airlines will be duly informed of ongoing enforcement actions by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) with regards to the established non-compliance to PTF directives and protocols as enumerated in our letter of 4th February, 2021,” it added.
