Breaking! Asiwaju of Ikorodu, B.O Benson dies days to 89th birthday

Respected lawyer, Babatunde Olusola Benson, SAN has been reported dead. He died today, 24th of June, 2021 barely two weeks to his 89th birthday. He was born on July 4, 1932.

Chief B.O Benson’s death was announced by the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Shotobi who disclosed that the deceased lived a “life of committed service to development of Ikorodu Kingdom and to humanity.”

Chief B.O Benson was a revered legal practitioner who hails from an aristocrat Ikorodu family. He was the first and only Nigerian to serve in both capacities of General Secretary and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association. He was also the former Chairman of the African Bar Association while he also serves as a former Vice-Chairman of the International Bar Association.

He was called to the Nigerian and English bar in 1959, his law firm, B.O Benson law office was founded in 1982 while he became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 1983.
