Breaking: Ahead Of EndSARS Protest, Wike Bans All Forms Of Protests In Rivers State
The executive Governor of Rivers State, Barrister Nyesom Wike moments ago placed a ban on all forms of protests in and around the State.
According to the official statement released by Governor Wike via his Twitter account, the ban was imposed especially on EndSARS protest as a result of the Inspector General of Police dissolution of the Special Anti Robbery Squad which Nigerians have been staging protests against their activities in the past few days.
The Governor noted that there was no need for protests in the State as the IGP has disbanded SARS which has been accused of extra judicial killings and extortion.
The statement reads, “The Rivers State Government hereby wish to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the State.
Therefore, all proposed protests under #EndSars Campaign are hereby prohibited. Government took this decision because the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had already scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
“Therefore, there is no need for any form of protest against a Unit of the Police Force that no longer exists.”
