Biodun Oyebanji, the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, has emerged as governor-elect after a landslide victory at the just-concluded gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.
The returning officer for the poll, Kayode Oyebode announced the final results in the early hours of Sunday.
Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, won 15 out of the 16 Local Government Areas in the state — polling 187,057 votes.
His main challengers are Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who had 82,211 votes, and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who secured 67,457 votes.
The total valid votes is 351,865 and rejected votes stands as 8,888. The total votes cast is 360,753, while the total number of registered voters stands as 989,224 and total number of accredited voters is 363,438.
