Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat in Ikorodu Constituency I.
Bolowotan, who is the immediate past Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, clinched the APC ticket, defeating other aspirants in the race including incumbent and Majority leader of the Lagos Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade and the son of a former Lagos State deputy governor, Gbolahan Ogunleye.
He polled 38 votes, while Ogunleye secured 16 votes, and Agunbiade managed to get just one vote at the hotly-contested election held on Friday at the Ikorodu West LCDA secretariat.
This victory means the sports administrator cum politician will be the flagbearer of the APC for the Lagos State House of Assembly elections in Ikorodu Constituency I, bringing an abrupt end to Agunbiade’s fifth term bid.
In 2019, he contested for the same seat, but lost the APC ticket to the incumbent.
