It is no longer news that Professor Oyedamola Oke has been elected as the acting Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University. As reported by BlackBox Nigeria, he took over from Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun who took the exit door after completing his five years non-renewable tenure at the helms of affairs of the reputable citadel.

BlackBox Nigeria reported that Professor Oke’s emergence came after 61 professors chose him ahead of his colleague, Professor Wahab Elias who got 51 votes from other professors who made up the University Senate. In all, 113 professors were involved in the election which saw Oke emerge victorious.

Professor Oke who before his emergence was the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration many has said will have an enormous task to face in the coming weeks before the Lagos State Government names a substantive Vice Chancellor. He is expected to act for about 45 days according to an earlier statement.

PROFESSOR OYEDAMOLA OKE’S PROFILE

Oyedamola Oke joined LASU as a pioneer staff in 1984 beginning as an Assistant Lecturer in the department of Botany, faculty of science BlackBox Nigeria has exclusively gathered.

Prior to his employment at LASU, he obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Lagos in 1978. He thereafter got his masters degree from the University of Ibadan in 1981 and proceeded on his PhD study which he achieved in 1986 two years into his LASU journey.

He however became a Professor of Pathology in 2004.

Professor Oke who is a native of Ejigbo in Osun State has also previously served as the Dean, Faculty of Science. He is a christian.
