Billionaire Okoya’s Son Apologizes Over Viral Naira Abuse Video

The son of Nigerian billionaire Chief Rasaq Okoya has issued a heartfelt apology to the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the general public following a viral video that showed him mishandling the country’s currency, the Naira.

The controversial video, which surfaced online earlier this week, sparked widespread outrage, leading to the arrest and detention of a police officer seen in the clip.

The NPF confirmed on Friday morning that investigations are underway to address the matter.

The statement reads, “The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of the lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action. The involvement of the policeman has been condemned, as it’s unethical. We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police. Thanks.”

In response to the backlash, the young Okoya expressed regret over his actions, stating that they were not intended to cause trouble or harm.

Speaking directly to Nigerians, he posted on his X handle, “To the Nigerian people, my actions were not to cause any trouble or harm. My intentions were pure and naive. I ask for your forgiveness and support in this situation as I had no intention to raise such an alarm. I wasn’t fully aware of the consequences of my actions.”

The billionaire’s son called for understanding and emphasized his respect for the laws and values of the country.

He also pledged to cooperate fully with the authorities as the investigation progresses.

However, this act of apology has generated a heated discussion among Nigerian on whether he should be pardon when similar acts that occured in the past with the likes of Bobrisky were punished according to the law.

According to an X user with the username @Derickx, he said, “Ignorance of the law is no excuse to break the law. My brother, you will do jail. An innocent policeman is about to lose his job because of your waywardness.”

Another user,@gabzz12345, “This is the investigation that police man said they were carrying out, after arresting their fellow policeman.”

Also, Alonso Nwaeze commented, “We see how those bastard take bash bobrisky ooo wey them hold am for neck untop this same naira abuse to the extent say I start dey reason if she do another thing to them to deserve that kind hate.

“Na ordinary speech this one drop LMAO”, he added.

“Since the law na for the poor who am I to talk?? Now them don go lock the innocent poor police man. Is so sad the law doesn’t work for the rich in Nigeria.

“Oboy, ignorance of the law is not an excuse. You need to stand trial just like Bobrisky and Cubana Chief Priest did. @PoliceNG do your job. The law is not a respecter of person, position, rank or creed,” commented by another X user.
